FAQs About Bleach Painting

What materials are the garments made of?

All garments are made from at least an 80% cotton blend as cotton is the best material to use for bleach art. T-shirts are 100% cotton, while hoodies and jumpers are at least an 80% cotton mix.

Will bleach damage the fabric?

While a large amount of bleach for a prolonged period of time will start to damage the integrity of the fabric, I use a bleach and water solution and do it very sparingly and only on areas that need it. Each garment is also neutralised with a hydrogen peroxide solution after every painting session as well as prior to washing, which stops the bleaching process and helps protect the fabric.

What does neutralising do?

Neutralising involves applying a hydrogen peroxide and water solution to stop the bleaching process. After this step, the garment is thoroughly washed and ready to wear when it reaches you.

How do I care for my garment?

Due to the high cotton content, care for your garment as you would similar clothing:

  • Wash in cool water.
  • Avoid tumble drying.
